Why we left, illustrated in two photos

On Saturday, the best and the worst elements in America were both on display. Sadly, the worst appears to be winning.

These people are considered disloyal, dangerously radical subverters of democracy by the current administration and many of its supporters.

This person is a sitting United States senator.

Utah Senator Mike Lee shared a tweet mocking the assasination of a Minnesota state lawmaker, the murder of her husband, and attempgted murder of two others.

I have nothing but admiration for the courage of the millions of people who took to the streets on Saturday for the 'No Kings' demonstrations. They are much braver than I. And they represent the true heart and soul of the United States.

But, sadly, I think the power amassed by the MAGA Republicans is too entrenched, too powerful, and too shameless, without any moral compass, for America to return to some semblance of sanity in my lifetime.

For the millions marching on Saturday, how many millions relish the hate and the violence and lies and will keep voting for more of the same?

How can it be that the country I was raised in would elect someone who would publicly say something so vile? How is it that it is even commonplace?

And political violence is normalized.
